WOW. I just looked at the date of my last posting: March 13th...over 2 months ago! Well the good news is that nothing has changed and everything has changed.

I've been protective styling like a crazy person. It keeps my life simple.

This is my favorite style but the hardest for me to do :(

My twists change directions so the back is eh...

This a random style that I did...not my favorite but it held well.

This is my repeater and I guess mt signature style...it beats simple twists.

I also have been wearing my hair out in the last month. I went to Morrocco and did some other travelling plus some good byes so I let it free for photo ops :)

Feria de Seville...love hair accessories :)

This is a detangled and rinsed twist out...a semi rinse and go

I've probably henna'd once a month...I have 7 boxes of henna to take back home :/

Also did a twisted headband...it gets wonky at the top but chic nonetheless.

Barcelona :)
 Long hair don't care!
I blow dried for the first time...it went ok.

Chunky Mini Twists!

My hair is getting sooo long!

It's a cute bob and I love it. I've had them in for almost a week and am trying to keep them in until I leave Spain (4 weeks from now!). I'm not sure if that will happen. I'll probably get itchy and have to rinse. Plus they're all different sizes and seem to frizz up/unravel. I only used Oyin Shine and Define and shea butter. I'll probably go back and reseal, retwist (some), and add aloe vera gel for extra hold this week. Why so soon? Because I'm going to spend the weekend with a friend from the states and  I'll have to look good because we'll take tons of pics together and she's black so she can see a bad hair day better than the spaniards lol. #sadbuttrue

So I'm still doing the whole twists thing. And as much as I hate to say..Genevive is simply blossoming! Last weeken I went on a trip with some friends to a lagoon called Huacachina. I did the normal endo of the week twist out and then on Sunday did a good old deep conditioner. Nothing out of the normal. I shampooed first just to get it wet. The conditioner this week was mayonnaise, 1/2 avocado, and about 3 table spoons of olive oil. So I did that and left it on for like 3 hours then just rinsed it.

I was planning on trying flat twists to a) save time and b) have a different curl pattern. Plus if I did flat twists I could just wear the twist out longer during the week. Well I got about 1/4 flat 2 strand twisted and then ran into a wall. 1) I didn't like the ends. I didn't know what to do with them. 2) I can only do my left side. 3) I can't reach the back.

So then I took them out and just went to bed. On Monday, I woke up and decided to let Genevive be free for a day. So I added a little water and oil and picked her out.

I actually have enough hair for a head band! It's like a legit puff.

So then after my classes I prepared to put the twists back in. Clearly Genevive like "protective" styles. I tried to part it. Fail. I tried to come a little. Fail.

I officially can't do anything with my hair unless it is soaked with water and conditioner. So even though I had just washed/conditioned the day before, I had to co wash again. I decided to shake it up and use the Yes to Tomatoes (from the Yes to Carrots line). I brought this bottle with me but I've been conserving it by only using it as a leave in for my twist outs. Let's just say I love it! Review coming muy pronto! But the real news is that I actually had to separate my hair  and braid it into sections to co wash! I didn't know what to do with myself. My TWA is officially a slightly larger TWA...let's call it a SmAA: Smedium Awkward  Afro. It really is an awkward length. And shrinkage really is nothing to play with. But my host mom noticed my hair was a little bigger and so did a few class mates.

Que emocion! (How exciting)

So I've made a slight mistake. I've been waiting all week to upload some pictures from my camera of my hair in various states...but I forgot and deleted all the pics off of my camera today. Boo on that. :/

The pictures were just of my twists but there were also a few of my wet hair. I've mainly been wearing the twists so I haven't taken pictures of my hair just out. And those are the pics I deleted. And I'm stretching the twists for 2 weeks so I won't be taking more until next week sometime.

I still don't really like the twists. They're oh so convenient though. I add oil to the ends about once a week and try to oil my scalp. I'm really bad about not oiling my scalp. I'm going to try to get some jojoba oil on after this...At night I tie it down with a  scarf and redo the front flat twists every few days. And that's it. Even though they're so easy, I'm getting bored. I'm really determined to master flat twists so that I can do awesome twist outs. But I'm trying to wear the twists until when did I say? I think October. So I still have a few weeks.

So Genevive has been twisted for going on 2 weeks in a row. I'm so proud of myself. I really don't like twists but since they look ok and I have no one to impress, they serve their purpose. I'm really trying to push myself to protective style atleast until my birthday (October 10th). So far so good.

These pics are all from last weekend (after the twist out). I went to Cusco and Macchu Picchu!
And this guy...is the only other darker person I saw. I have no idea where he was from but the hair is what I was looking at.

Well that's all for now...I'm working on some posts with more...substance...stay tuned!

Ok. So  my problems with Genevive keep multiplying. Yes. After 6 months, her name is Genevive. Pretty no?

First, the dandruff. Then, the build up. Lately, it's been shedding. My hair is shedding like crazy. And I know it's because I'm not combing it right. I only wash my hair once a week so I'm retaining moisture but I don't have time to detangle. So when I fluff in the mornings, it's not good for poor Genevive.

My flat 2 strand twist is getting better everytime. This is how I've been wearing my hair.
So I decided to try a protective style: twists. I didn't think Genevive has enough length but something must be done so I did mini-twists and I'm trying to keep them up for the whole week. They don't look that bad and I've had a few compliments. I'm going to try to keep this going until October and see if I retain any kind of length. I really like playing in my hair so hopefully I'll wean myself from that.

I'm very proud of my work. I redid the flat twists this morning and they look even better. I'll be a pro in no time!

I did so many new things at once that I can't really review everything I did. Before I twisted I did a deep conditioner with mayonnaise, a little bit of olive oil, and an egg. It kept dripping so I managed to keep it on for an hour. I think Genevive really likes the mayonnaise. Next time we'll throw in an avacado. After that I did an ACV rinse. I added a few drops of peppermint oil and a little honey and my scalp feels great! The peppermint oil and honey helped with the horrid smell of the ACV.  The ACV rinse definitely is a keeper that I'm going to try every 2 weeks or so. It feels so clean and moisturized. I did the twists with a little glob of Yes to Tomatoes and I'm also trying aloe vera gel. At first I couldn't find any but it gives me a little shine and seems to work great on my edges.

I'll try to remember what hair accessories I use through out the week. It took about 4 hours (with about a 40 minute break) so if it lasts it'll definitely be a keeper.

We shall see..

Nappy trails to you.....
